Summer interns could find at Capri- Campus an environment that will foster their creativity and interdisciplinary approach to challenging issues, help them develop a problem-solving mindset, give them the opportunity to participate in publications/patents and provide them with the hands-on experience that will make a difference in their careers.
The Summer School Campus in Capri is an initiative of the Privacy and Security Cmte. of the Council of the Lawyers of Naples, established in 2006 under a cooperative agreement with the Homeland Security Cmte. of the American Bar Association. Lond Lancers Company Ltd., London UK and We International Arena Ltd. London UK, supports the Summer School Campus for administrative, distance learning and scientific activities.
Program Details
The apprentice program is designed to encourage post graduate students to pursue forensic science and interdisciplinary careers; acquaint qualified post graduate students and lawyers\ paralegals, civil servants, military, journalists with the activities of advanced laboratories through summer science and forensic research experiences; to provide students with opportunities in and exposure to scientific and forensic practice and personnel not available in their university or professional environment; to expose those students to advanced research and forensic activities and goals in a way that encourages a positive image and supportive attitude toward our professional community; and to prepare these students\ professionals to serve as positive role models for their peers. Capri Campus places academically talented postgraduate students with interest and ability in forensic and interdisciplinary as apprentices in advanced laboratories for twelve weeks during the summer. These postgraduate students work with scientists and lawyers who act as mentors. The program offers post graduate students a unique and positive experience in their fields of interest, thus encouraging them to pursue careers in forensic and security.
The Program of seminaries includes 12 Units. Any unit is organised in a seminar to be held in Capri involving senior discussants and one week of tutorial activities; 3 more units are organised as laboratory and will be based at facilities in Naples, Rome and Milan. Any Unit possibly includes 4 hours of front class and 40 hours of tutoring. The course also include an opening statement, presentation of video clips and a closing session.
A certificate postgraduate studies 600 Hours 20 Credits will be awarded to successful candidates who attend in presence or distance learning a considerable part of the scheduled seminars and a sufficient part of tutorial and laboratory activities and after a final dissertation. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic emergency some seminars\ tutoring will be held in distance learning mode if required by the competent authority; laboratories must be attended in presence. An organizing team under the Chairman of the Privacy and Security Cmte., will be in charge of all the administrative and scientific activities. The Cmte. will assist participants in their organization, travels and logistic, all the costs are at their own expenses.
Course Duration
- Participating students spend 12 + 3 weeks during the summer doing research and program dates are fixed and cannot be changed (for security reasons due to the COVID 19 emergency the 2021 summer session will be organized with some classes in distance learning mode)
- Students are expected to participate 12 + 3 continuous weeks (or in distance learning) and laboratories based in Capri, Naples, Rome and Milan
- It is strongly recommended to apply to laboratories that are close to your residence since no travel/relocation allowance will be provided
Eligibility Requirements
- Lawyers, certified paralegals, registered journalists, civil servants, military personnel, diplomatic staff
- Post graduate students who have completed at least a bachelor or equivalent
- Graduated seniors are eligible to apply
Undergraduate students and other motivated candidates may attend the course as observers
Cost of the course: euro 200 as a contribution for organizational expences; participation at a specific unit (44 hours) is possible (in this case contribution is euro 120, certification and final test will be limited to the selected matter of interest, 4 credits)
